What is the Difference Between Compact and Full-size Spare Tires?

All cars come with items used to repair a flat tire by default. Cars used to come with full-size spare tires in the past, but many modern cars come with compact temporary models. One only need to look at the tires to see the major difference. Compact temporary spares are smaller than their full-size counterparts.

Compact spare tires have other differences from their full-size counterparts. These smaller tires are only supposed to be driven forty miles. The car owner should only use them to get to a point where they can replace the full-size tire. Compact spares can be driven up to 40 miles before they should be replaced.

Many people prefer a full-size spare tire over a compact temporary model. Getting a full-size pair for a newer car requires a trip to the tire store. Make sure to call ahead to make sure the store has the appropriate parts for your vehicle.
